Benicia Senior Center
Benicia Seniors’ Happenings
Wonderful things are happening for seniors in Benicia. All it takes is a phone call or a visit to the center to get involved.
There are games and clubs to participate in – bingo, puzzles, bridge, bookclub, lending library, and the use of two new laptops: arts and crafts classes, including varied crafts, watercolor, and the Solano Quilters Guild: and Spanish and Italian classes. You can even learn how to tap dance, take a fitness, Yoga, or Tai Chi class, or get tech help.
You can take day trips to places like Golden Gate Fields, or Cache Creek Casino, or venture further out into the world for longer vacations. Planned trips for 2017 include Arizona Spring Training Getaway, Great Trains & Grand Canyons, Western Frontiers, and Heritage Highlights.
HICAP: Health Insurance Counseling and Advocacy Program volunteer counselors provide FREE counseling services for those who are eligible or are on Medicare. To make an appointment, call 800/434-0222 or visit www.sasnb.org, for more information.
Telecare: Telecare calls shut-ins or those who live alone to check in on them. Call the Senior Center to set up this service.
Meals on Wheels: Meals on Wheels offers on-site lunches to any person aged 60 or older. Monday-Friday 11:30am-12:45pm (except on holidays or luncheon days.) Suggested contribution is just $3 per meal to help support the program. To register or make a reservation, call 800/788-5114 or 707/426-3079.
